We were in enmity with Him. Enmity is “the state or feeling of being actively opposed or hostile to someone or something.” –i.e. decades of enmity between the two countries, –like Palestine and Israel. We were enemies of God until Jesus justified us. Sin separated us. There was no way to reconcile with sin. Sin had to be paid for. That’s why Jesus went to the cross. His blood was the propitiation that turned aside the wrath of God. Now there is peace between us: an eternal truce. The peace treaty of all peace treaties –signed in blood. It is a treaty that will never be broken, unlike man’s treaties. It is done! Once and for all. Now we are friends instead of enemies. Take the step of faith and put your trust in Jesus and what He has done to reconcile us to God.
